It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the new president of S&T’s Staff Council. It is my passion and my goal to ensure that all staff voices are heard and taken into consideration when decisions are made at S&T. I am committed to creating an environment of collaboration and open communication between staff and administration. Together, I am confident that we can work toward cultivating a positive and productive work environment.

First and foremost, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Megan Fowler, our previous president, for her exceptional leadership and dedicated service to Staff Council. Megan's passion, commitment and tireless efforts have played a significant role in advancing the interests and concerns of our staff community. We owe her a debt of gratitude for her valuable contributions.
With the new year, comes new Staff Council members. I would like to welcome Anne Groniger, Austin Wall, Lutrisha Decker, Mark Evans, Patricia Reising and Tricia Helton-George. We also welcome a new liaison from Faculty Senate, Dr. Dave Westenberg.
We have a lot of work to do, but I am confident that together we can make a positive impact on campus and in our community. I encourage you to actively engage with Staff Council and share your ideas, suggestions and concerns. Let's continue to strive for excellence and make sure everyone in our community has access to the resources they need.

Staff Spotlight: Anne Groniger
|
Anne Groniger, business support specialist for psychological science, was hired in January 2016 after beginning as a temporary employee in September 2015. Anne says her department and Dr. Clair Kueny, chair of psychological science, are what she enjoys most about working at S&T. She says she loves what she does and gets to do it with the best chair and faculty on campus.

Staff Council officers elected
|
Missouri S&T’s Staff Council recently elected officers for the 2023-24 academic year. Jacquelyn Sansone, fiscal manager for the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE) who served as vice president of Staff Council in 2022-23, now leads the council as president. Megan Fowler, executive assistant for CASE, is the past president.

Employees celebrate at lunch with the chancellor
|
On July 6, the Staff Success Center, in partnership with Staff Council, invited new employees, service milestone recipients so far in 2023 and the 2023 Outstanding Newcomer awardees to a lunch with Chancellor Mo Dehghani. Attendees were welcomed by Simone Waldon, the manager of the Staff Success Center, and Jackie Sansone, the 2023-24 Staff Council president.

UM System offers monthly webinars supporting learning and leadership on the third Thursday of each month. This month’s session will teach you how to enhance your meeting presentation and facilitation skills and will be held 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 20.

Staff Success Center launches S&T Show-Me Series
|
S&T's Staff Success Center has launched its newest professional development programming, S&T Show-Me Series. This series is a collection of training opportunities comprised of a combination of live and recorded virtual walk-throughs and hands-on workshops that are directly related to S&T employees’ day-to-day tasks.
The next session focuses on using Percipio, UM System’s eLearning platform, for professional and personal development and will be held 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, July 21.
Come prepared with questions. This session will be interactive.

Get involved with Staff Council
|
During July’s meeting, Staff Council discussed and approved a draft document for the vision, strategy and execution priorities of Staff Council.
The next Staff Council meeting is at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, on Zoom. Cheryl Cain, S&T’s new vice chancellor of marketing and communications, will introduce herself and discuss her initial vision and plans. Everyone is welcome to attend.
